The classic Boulevardier is a delicious riff on the beloved Negroni – made with whiskey instead of gin. Adding a bit of Blood Orange Juice and Bourbon, not only makes it even more delicious, but also the perfect winter drink.
The Boulevardier is also one of the easiest cocktails to make because, like the Negroni it is based upon, it uses equal parts of each liquid component. This Blood Orange and Bourbon Boulevardier Cocktail Recipe follows that tradition.

Blood Oranges
Blood oranges are a distinct and captivating variety of citrus fruit known for their striking appearance and unique flavor profile. They have a deep red to maroon-colored flesh, which sets them apart from regular oranges. The red coloration is due to the presence of anthocyanins, natural pigments that develop when the fruit ripens in cooler temperatures.
The taste of blood oranges is a delightful blend of sweet and tart, with berry-like undertones. They are often less acidic than traditional oranges, making them a favorite among those who prefer a milder citrus flavor. Blood oranges are commonly used in fresh juices, salads, desserts and cocktails, where their vivid color adds visual appeal.
These oranges are typically in season from December to April in many regions, and their availability may vary depending on the location. When selecting blood oranges, look for ones with firm skin and a rich, dark hue to ensure the best taste and quality.
